Option for Outdoor Medical Facilities to the newly enrolled RELHS-97 beneficiaries – clarification

Some Railway pensioners who were drawing Fixed Medical Allowance of Rs.100/- per month have enrolled themselves as beneficiaries of RELHS by availing the opportunity which was extended to them in terms of Railway Board’s letter No. 2003/H/281/1/RELHS dated 28-1-2005.  In the PNM Meeting with NFIR, the Staff side has pointed out that such newly enrolled members of RELHS are not being allowed to opt for Outdoor Medical Facilities since they had already opted for Fixed Medial Allowance of Rs.100/- per month.

2.      The matter has been examined and it has been decided that the new entrants in the RELHS-97 should be allowed option to switch over from claiming Fixed Medical Allowance to availing OPD facilities. This would naturally, lead to their becoming ineligible for FMA.  This option may not be reckoned as one-time change of option.
