Special Recruitment Drive for Persons with Disability

• Persons suffering from not less than 40% of the disability in (i) Blind / Low vision (ii) Hearing Handicapped (iii) Orthopaedically Handicapped (OH) (Loco Motor Disabled or Cerebral Palsy).

Categories/Posts

• Attested photocopies of all documents including Caste certificate, Physically Handicapped certificate as mentioned below and two 2 self-addressed envelops of size 23 cm.x 10 cm with name in full and complete address written thereon with Rs. 5/- (five) postage stamp affixed on it is required to be attached along with the application.
• The candidate will have to make their own arrangement while appearing in the written test / verification. SC/ST candidates will be given free general 2nd class train travel authority for appearing at written test and verification of documents.

• Written Test followed by verification of documents. The question papers for the written test shall be consisting of multiple choice, objective type questions aimed to assess General Knowledge / Awareness, Mathematics, Reasoning and professional subject etc.
• There will be no question of checking proficiency in languages.
• Question will be in BENGALI, HINDI, URDU & ENGLISH.
• All visually handicapped candidates including blind and partially blind persons with disabilities not less than 40% who have applied for the examination can avail the assistance of a SCRIBE by their own provision for indicating replies on their behalf.

• For UR candidate : 18 yrs to 40 yrs.
• For OBC candidates : 18 yrs to 43 yrs. 
• For SC/ST candidates : 18 yrs to 45 yrs.

• Typed / Neatly hand written application in English / Hindi on A4 size foolscap paper in the format at Annexure-A  enclosed with a recent pass port size photograph pasted thereon bearing full signature of the candidate across the same with date should be made to Dy.Chief Personnel Officer/RP, Eastern Railway, 17, N.S.Road, 1st Floor, Fairlie Place, Kolkata – 700 001. 
• Applications with enclosure may be sent by ordinary post or dropped in the box, kept in the CPO’s Office at the above address.
• Two passport size photographs (same as affixed on application) with name written on the back must be enclosed. 
• NO EXAMINATION FEE IS REQUIRED. 
• Necessary certificates of proper Medical Authorities / Board should be enclosed with application in support of candidate’s disability, Proforma of which is at Annexure-C.
• Candidates have to fill up required information in Black Gel Ink/Black Ball Point pen preferably in his/her own handwriting.
• Form should be written either in English or Hindi, not in any other Language. The language once selected, should only be used for filling all columns.
• Application  form should be duly dated and signed by the candidate.
• The envelope containing the application be superscribed “APPLICATION FOR VH/HH/OH QUOTA AGAINST THE NOTIFICATION NO 1/2012/PWD(ER) AND CATEGORY NO. ___________________, NAME OF THE POST _____________________ FOR EMPLOYMENT IN E.RLY.”

• Physically Handicapped certificate issued by Govt. Hospital/Medical Board duly constituted by the Central or State Govt. consisting of at least 3 members out of which one is a specialist in the  particular field for assessing Loco motor / Cerebral / Visual / Hearing Disability as the case may be.
• The certificate must contain an indication, of whether the candidate has permanent disability or whether there are chances / no chances of variation in degree of disability or it was a temporary disability with period of validity of the certificate. Such Temporary certificate should be valid for a period of 5 years.
