Educational Qualification for Promotion from Group C to Group D

Dear Sir,
Could you please tell me that what are the criteria to get promoted from Gr D employee to JE level (for departmental exam)… i.e Education, Experience etc…

There are two ways one can go up from Group D to Gr C.
1) GDCE where all the Railways employees irrespective of Department who has the minimum prescribed qualification can apply. For example to appear for JE Mechanical you need Diploma in Mechanical.
2) Another is Departmental exam where candidates go up through normal channels subject to some qualifying exam with minimu educational qualification. For example for JE Mechanical only Mechanical employees in next lower grade (GP 2800) can apply. Minimu qualification in this case is only class 10.

It is possible. All employees can write GDCE if he has necessary basic qualification for the job.

Work of Helper can vary as per department of Railways. In general it will be the assistant of Technician. It can vary from cleaning of coaches, stations, assisting techinician in his work.

Days?? Not so fast my dear friend. Count in years. There are hundreds waiting in the line with comparable qualifications. But if you are smart and hardworking you can jump to Group C in 3-4 years.

The job is good or not for you- only you can say that. There are chances of promotion but understand that there is high competition for the few posts available .

If degree is from a recognized university it will be accepted , otherwise not eligible for.

this is jiten kumar jena.i've completed my B.tech in ECE.i've cleared the written exam held on 16/07/2012 for the post of ASSISTANT LOCO PILOT now heading for the Aptitude test. Could you tell me if i'll get selected what will be my PAY SCALE,GROSS SALARY. if there is promotion facility available for me to get promoted to my respective engineering post as a B.tech engineer.if so then let me know the age,qualification,experience etc required to get into the B.tech post.

Expect around 18-20000 net salary. You can write departmental exams for JE and SE though nowadays chances are less.

Respected sir,
I have considered for compassionate groups appointment, i have B.Tech (single subject remains), while applying to DPO shall I put my qualification as B.Tech since i am confident in a month i will get clear the subject and by the time DPO calls me for interview i will be clearing my sujbect. or shall i put my qualification as B.Tech(has to clear single subject) or i will be considered as +2. Please guide me. I want to put a application for CG appointment in DRM's office. Can i expect JE position with B.Tech.

It is better that you put only qualification that you have at present. Or postpone your application till you clear your paper.
You can get JE if you have B.Tech.

Honorable CAT gave statement to provide Retirement benefits and CG appointment in my father's case.
Now i have to clear a single subject in B.Tech which i can clear after two months(December).
If i apply to DRM's office now my qualification will be 2+ so i want to apply after i get result and i am confident i will clear my subject in two months and i will have B.Tech then.
But my father has taken huge amounts of loan before he was expired and for the past three years bank might be putting heavy interest on that amount.
So i want to apply to DRM's office for retirement benefits first and after two months i want to apply for the appointment. Can i do this, or i must ask for the CG appointment in the same application in which i am applying for retirement benefits.
Please guide me and thank you very much for your valuable information.

Appointment and Retirement Benefits are 2 separate things. CG Appointment can take time for completing all the formalities.
In any case you can apply the way you wanted. DRM will decide the modalities taking into consideration the CAT orders.

If what you want is a white collar job, PLEASE dont join Group D. It will be counter productive for you and Railways. Besides another person lose his chance. IF you join as Group D you must be ready to do Group D job at least for a couple of years.
Try your chance with RRB Group C Graduate categories.

My date of birth in Railway hospital and in my school, college is indifferent, will it create any problem for getting in to job. and my name is also in Railway hospital it is Sreekanth kumar and in school colllege records it is Sreekanth and my date of birth in Railway hospital and my father records it is 1987 and in my 10th and degree it is 1989. Will it create any problem for me to getting in to Railway job through CG appointment.

It depends on category. Mostly SSLC is needed for Promotion to Group C.

AMIE is recognised for Railway jobs and you can take permission to study AMIE.
DRE doesnt assure you a promotion. It can just show that you are hardworking and this can give an edge in interviews.
