Train Controllers' Strike

All India Train Controllers Association (AITCA) is planning a mass casual leave on International Labour Day (May 1) to air a series of demands which includes higher pay scales, stress allowance (30 percent of basic pay), mike allowance (at ten pc basic) and break down allowance . The Association demands Rs 15,600- 39,100 pay band for chief controllers and deputy chief controllers and Rs 9,300- 34,800 for section controllers.

 

AITCA consists of  Train Controllers of all divisions of Indian Railway including Chief Controllers, Deputy Chief Controllers, and Section Controllers. Association has said that there are about 25 percent vacancies in the cadre on all-India basis. It demands filling up of vacancies through proper selection, as against the ad-hoc filling from Station Masters, Traffic Inspectors and Guards. 

 

The  association claims that nearly 90% of the Controllers submitted leave application for May 1.
