my brother was appointed as goods guard in 5/7/2004 pay scale 4500-7000, and promoted through departmental exam as traffic apprentice in 15/01/10 scale 5500-9000. so please what will be basic pay.

for information his basic pay in jan.2010 13780/-(5200-20200 GP2800/-) ,so pl calcuate his basic pay after promotion sclae 9300-34800 GP 4200/- IN JAN 2010

As Traffic Apprentice you wont get any pay increase rightaway. Your pay increase occurs when you are absorbed in a cadre (SM/YM/Section Controller) after 2 years of training. Your pay will be like this.

July 2010 - Rs. 14120

July 2011 - Rs. 14550

In Jan 2012 when you complete training and absorbed in a cadre you will be given one increment, ie, Rs.14990. And your new Grade Pay will be 4200.

as traffic apprentice,you will get 30% running allowance , on your basic pay ,and 1400/- difference plus 3% increment

Railway School Books??? Railway is not publishing any school books as far as I know. They publish Manuals, Codes etc. each of them weighing some kilos with thousands of pages.

Pay Scale : 9300-34800

Initial Pay : 9300

Grade Pay : 4200

Traaining period : 2 years

After training posted as Chief Commercial Clerk

It seems tht some in personnel dept takes pleasure in denying rights of employees. It is clear that your date of appointment is before 1.1.06 . as per sixth CPC ordrs all eployees who are appoimted before 1.1.06 should be fixed as per the formulagiven by it. It is a clear violation. i dont understand what clarification they need.

Yes you are eligible for one more increment as per the new modification regarding the grant of increment.

Unfortunately for you yes. Your seniority will be fixed on the day of your posting after training. Sixth Pay commission merged SMIII and SMII grades. Accordingly Traffic apprentices will be inducted in lowermost of SMIII grade.
