Job Profile of Commercial Apprentice (CA)
- Commercial Apprentices are trained as a sort of multi skilled supervisors in the Commercial branch.
- They will be given 2 year training in different categories of working of Commercial branch - training in duties of Commercial clerks, parcel clerks, goods clerks, catering, commercial inspectors.
- They may be put to work independently also in these posts during training.
- Job profile: After 2 years training they will be posted normally as Chief Commercial/Parcel/Goods Clerk even though they can be posted as Commercial inspectors also in principle.
- Career path :
- Next promotion will be to Parcel/Goods supervisor in GP 4600. Future promotions to managerial (Gazetted) posts are based on departmental examinations.

I got selected finally for CA around three month back from RRB Chandigarh, but didn't't get any correspondence from NR Hqs. Now, should I contact personally to NR or wait for their letter. Can you give expected date of joining.
Moreover I think the duration of 2 years training of CA is more . Is there any possibility of reduction of training period in future or there is change in amount of stipend.
In one of comments of this page it is given that in some of the divisions the time to be promoted to next grade pay is more than 10 yrs, is it true.

With the decision of Railway Board regarding the seniority of commercial apprentice i.e. they will be placed below 4200, has created confusion as the main intention of Railways were to bring up in senior supervisors level in quickest time, so that they were available for middle management in Railways, but now they are placed at the bottom of 4200 and there is no exam being conducted for 4600 as the promotion to employee is being given purely in seniority so it will took almost 10 more years to come to the grade of 4600.It seems that Railways is on the suicidal path. God help the Railways

For First two years of period
For First two years of period of training pay will be less than what you get now, because stipend only is provided in GP 2800. After this period it willl be more than what you get now.

1. Board vide their letters referred above have revised the training period for Supervisors from 18 months to 12 months and some of the Railway have sought clarification whether the revised training is applicable to the staff who are already undergoing training or for those being inducted in future batches. The matter has been considered and it has been decided that the revised training period will be applicable to future batches from the date of issue of the letter quoted above.
Sir, does it mean that the training period of CA/ TA has been reduced to 01 year, if yes will the initial stipend will be fixed ar 9300+4200= 13500,

It depends on what grounds you have been selected in the Railways, If it is through the RRB then post selection you may be posted to a division of a Zonal Railway whose vacancy was filled through the RRB exam you appeared for . And if it is on compassionate grounds then the Division your parent was working in ,will be alloted to you. Even in this case one can never be sure securing a posting as CC at Delhi as it depends on the vacancy position. Once selected for the post of commercial clerk you will be directed to the personal branch (Establishment section ) of a particular Division, they will be the ones who will let u know the vacancy position .

the promotion in Railways are zone wise or Division wise or station wise. Moreover, the time for these promotion is different for each zone/ division/ station or it is same for Indian railway.
The transfer in railways is within allotted zone or within allotted division or All India basis.
As read in this page is there any chance of reduction of apprentice period of CA/ TA.

The answere differs according to category. For TA/CA, transfer and promotions are within the Division. Once they are promoted to GAZETTED posts, transfers will be within zone or even Indian railways.

RRB may publish final panel
RRB may publish final panel soon. But therocess after this can take many many months and can vary from division to division. Next RRB will advise the panel to the CPO of the zone concerned. CPO allot thedivision and send the file to division and division conduct medical , verification and give appointment.

You are eligible for CA, but not TA(TA comes under medical A2 and CA in C1 classification).
