Fixation of Pay on Promotion
- On promotion an employee will get one increment equal to three per cent of his basic pay (Pay in the pay band + Grade pay).
- The increment amount will be added to the existing pay in the pay band. The Grade pay corresponding to the promotion post will be added to the pay in the pay band.
- Fixation of pay on promotion under CCS (Revised Pay) Rules, 2008, an employee has been promoted or upgraded to higher grade pay (MACP) have to submit an option form within one month.
- Employee has an option to get his pay fixed in the higher post either from the date of his promotion, or from date of his next increment.
- Those who get their promotion between 2nd Jan and 30th June will get the additional benefit of one annual increment in the ACP/Promotion year itself, if they opt to defer their pay fixation for promotion to next grade to 1st July of the year at the loss of fixation benefit from promotion month to July of that year. This onetime loss will be very minimal while comparing long term benefit we get out of addition of one more increment in the year. Anyway, this onetime loss has also been minimized to the extent possible as the grade pay gets revised on the date of ACP/Promotion though the employee defer increment to July.

I got promotion from Goods
I got promotion from Goods guard to Sr goods guard, my cadre clerk added only 4200 GP to my basic. And told not eligible for promotional increment. Sir my doubt is guard cadre not eligible for promotional increment? But SMs are getting.
You have to ask hime the
You have to ask hime the reason for not giving increment. You must have already got one increment. Understand that running staff are not only deprived of any privilages that other employees are getting, but also they are given so many privilages that other employees are not getting due to their peculiar nature of duties.
I have promoted in August
I have promoted in August 2012 to grade pay of 7600 from 6600. My basic was 22980+6600=29580. Now I have been given an option for pay fixation. Kindly advise what will be beneficial for me? To opt from date of promotion or from July 2013?

Mr X was working in 2400 grade pay. He got mutual transferred to another Division with the person, who was in 1900 grade pay. So Mr X,s grade pay was reverted to 1900. Now after working for about 3 years in grade pay of 1900, He got again promotion to 2400 grade pay. But while promotion this time he is not given promotion increment. Kindly clarify that whether he is eligible for promotion increment or not.

In your original promotion you have been given increment. So you wont get increment again. But you will get higher GP of the post.

It is not compulsory to give
It is not compulsory to give option. If employee doesnt give option within one month his pay will be fixed from date of promotion which may not be beneficial for him.

I posted in Railways as Tech-III on 04-03-2003. Got promoted to Tech-II on 12-04-2007 and my pay fixed form the date of promotion and now later promoted as Tech-I on 29-04-2011. Now, am I eligible for the extra increment for those whose initial increment date in between Feb and June in 2006.

I worked as Jr. Commercial Clerk from 28/2/96 till 09/4/2006. Then basic was Rs. 3965. From then selected for Departmental ASM. ASM training started on 10/4/2006. I took independent charge of ASM in January 2007. January 2007 basic pay 4500. My basic was fixed from Jan 2007 as 4500 x 1.86 + 2800 = Rs 11170. I have not been given benefit of 6th PC from january 2006 as bill clerk explained that if I take 6 th PC from Jan 2006 then my basic will be as: Jan 2003 - 3965 x 1.86 + 2000 = Rs 9380. Jan 2008 (after ASM promotion) Rs 9380 x 1.03 + 800 = Rs. 10470.
So my basic on Jan 2007 = 11170.
I got selected in departmental traffic apprentice (TA) (GP = 4200 payband 9300 - ) in 2010 and its two year training started on 15/4/10 and completed in June 2012. But my fixation for TA given from 2012. Will the promotion to be given from 2010, i.e. from starting date of TA training.

I was JE/II/Signal as on 1.1.2006 and by basic pay was 5750 in the scale 5000-8000 &increment was RS 150/- in GROUP -C .Month of annual increment was MAY ( in sixth pay commission scale 5000-800 &5500-9000 are merged and became PB-2 9300-34800 with G.P. 4200/- ). In May 2006 my basic became 5900. In August 2006 ,I got promotion as JE/I/Signal in the scale 5500-9000 & increment 175/- and I was fixed in this scale after promotion at basic 6200/-. after it Month of annual increment became August. In this way my basic was 6375 in the month of August 2007 after getting increment . Further ,through LDCE examination I promoted to GROUP -B in the scale 7500-12000 with increment 250/- in the month of 20 June 2008.Then Sir, please tell me what will be the basic pay after getting promotion in Group -B in sixth pay commission in PB2 (9300-34800& G.P. 4800/-) in July 2008 .

Pay will be fixed based on your pay on 1.1.06(by multiplication factor of 1.86). Then the promotion in merged grade will be ignored. On your promotion to group B you will be given GP 4800 and one increment.
Note: You will get extra increment announced recently as your date of increment was in May before 6th PC.
