Where did you read about that section engineer post havebeen uplifted to Sr. Section Engineer(Gr. 'B' gazetted ).As per my knowledge even Sr. section engineer is a non gazetted post in railways.
SSE is a Group C non-gazetted
SSE is a Group C non-gazetted post as far as Railways are concerned. There is no move to elevate the post to Group B so far.

The change of name is after Pay commission merged SE and SSE . There is no difference regarding pay.

I had been selected as SE(PWay) in RRB through the notification 05/2010. I am presently working as JE in cpwd with a scale 9300-34800 with a GP 4200. here no departmental tests for promotion. Also it takes 20 years to get a seniority based promotion. Is it advicable to join RRB Now? Hw is the promotion scope in RRB if i join as SE Pway now. I am only 26yrs nw. Can i dream of a better position in my career.? or shud i stay back in CPWD and try for something better.? Plz reply me sir
It can take almost the same
It can take almost the same 20 years or sometimes more for SE to get promotion. Sometimes it can be less. It varies from Railway to Railway. But yes, if you are hardworking after 5 years you can appear for departmental exam to go as AEN(gaz). SE in Railways are non-gazetted.

Yesterday I recieved police verification through a police-man he asked me to submit the photocopy of 10th class marksheet and rasion card to police station. I think after that last thing remaining is medical.

I joined railway as a
I joined railway as a techinician III (S&T) in oct. 2005 in 3050-4590 pay scale. I got promotion to tech. II in aug. 2009 and fixed at Rs. 9540 (GP 2400). As the table shows a newly appointed tech. II will be fixed at Rs. 9910 (GP 2400) after 6th CPC. Isn't it injustice that an employee having 6 year service will get less pay than a new recruitee ? My basic pay was 9840 in june 2011 after about 2 year service in GP 2400.

SE(Track machine) will be in charge of a Track machine and responsible for maintenance of track. For promotion, you will have to write departmental exams. Next promotion will be Assistant Engineer(Gaz). You will have to work a lot of time out of headquarters on line. So you have to be prepared for living away with family most of the time. Salary and allowances are like other SEs.

Having said that I do agree that RRB is slow. It is high time that they reform the age old procedures.

the s&t job itself is tedious in nature, be it for men or for women.....it all depends, after all, on your gut feelings......be it railways or any other place on earth.
i am working with central railway locomotive workshop, parel in mumbai as senioe section engineer presently. women employees are on the rise in recent years, which has been culturally a positive sign for more women.
i would advice you to go ahead with your instincts and join any frontiers. at any place, it all depends on one's problem-solving abilities.
