In the comments I see that many newcomers are discouraged after reading the article https://indianrailwayemployee.com/content/5-myths-about-indian-railway-e….  I work with this organization quite some time and from my experience I put my opinion on the the myths and facts the author declares:

1. Salary Package of Indian Railway employee - As the author himself say the salry is on par with Central government employee. That means that you have a comfortable salary which is being revised by the goivernment appointed pay commission. Each year your salry is getting increased 3 times - Annual increment on July 1st and two time mandatory DA increase by Govet of India.

2. Bonus - It is true that you dont get what they declare with regard to number of days of pay. Last time I got a little more than Rs. 8500/- which is enough for an average Railway employee to celebrate Diwali with his family.

3. Pass rules - Strictly speaking the pass rules as the author say is correct. (You will find it is not strictly so in practical terms)

4.Working conditions - Sure a few categories in Railway works in hard conditions. But it is limited to some categories like gangmen. If you see you will find that in each industry there are jobs like that.

5. Working hours - EI roster is in force only in certain branch lines where the traffic is very, very less. That too wherever they work 72 hours only where quarters is provided locally.

I hope this will lead to a good discussion on the matterlaugh.
