Procedure for recruitment of Group ‘D’ staff on Indian Railways

One of the Zonal Railways has sought certain clarifications/ modifications in the procedure for recruitment of Group ‘D’ staff on Indian Railways circulated vide this office letter under reference.  The procedure for group ‘D’ recruitment has since been reviewed and following changes may be incorporated in Annexure-I of the aforesaid  procedure.

 

Substitution for Par 5.1 :

5.1          Candidates shall apply on plain paper, as per format indicated in the employment notice, directly to Deputy Chief Personnel Officer (Recruitment).  Fees may be charged at Rs.40/- (Rs. Forty only) per candidate.  However, no fee is to be charged from candidates belonging to SC/ST categories.  In his/her application, the candidate should mention the recruitment unit & posts applied for.  Candidates should be asked to give all available options in order of priority i.e. all the Divisions/Workshops/Production Units for whom the recruitment is being made.  In case, a candidate gives only  some of the options and if as per his merit there is no vacancy available to accommodate him/her in the Division/Workshop/Production Unit of his/her choice, then it will be the discretion of the administration to allot him/her against any of the available vacancies.  No change of options, once exercised, shall be permitted at any stage. 

               

Substitution for Para 6.5 :

6.5                A Town In-charge (JA Grade Officer) for each town will be nominated by CPO/ADRM  of the Railway.  In addition, an overall In-charge for a Division (normally ADRM) for the towns falling in the territorial jurisdiction of the Division will be nominated by  Chief Personnel Officer.

 

Substitution for Para 7.5 :

7.5     Candidates to the extent given below, in order of merit, out of those who have obtained the prescribed minimum pass marks in the written test as in Para 7.4 above will be called for being subjected to PET as per standards mentioned in Para 7.6 below.   Candidates will be called for PET in order of merit separately for each group of General, SC, ST & OBC.  Applications of all candidates to be called for PET should be scrutinized carefully in order to check their eligibility.

 

(i)                   If the number of vacancies is less than or equal to 1500 (One thousand Five hundred), number of persons to be called for PET should be 04 (four) times; and

(ii)                 If the number of vacancies is greater than 1500 (One thousand five hundred), the number of persons to be called for PET should be 03 (three) times.

 

It is further clarified that the rates shown in  the table in para 8 of Annexure-I of letter quoted above are only for guidance of the railways and that the actual rates may be at variance with those given in the table, as such, the railways shall follow the usual procedure of tendering and finalize the rates in terms of instructions contained in Board’s letter No. E(RRB)/2002/16/3 dated 04.12.2002 (RRCB No.15/2002).
