Vide Board’s letter under reference, RELHS-97 has been re-opened for those retired employees who have not joined the RELHS-97 earlier as a last and final chance.

 

          A demand has been raised by the Federations that spouses of railway employees who die after superannuation may also be permitted to join RELHS-97.

 

          It is clarified that as per para 2 under Heading “Mode of joining” of Board’s letter Number 97/H/28/1 dated 23.10.97, surviving spouses of the deceased retired railway employees who died after superannuation have already been made eligible to join RELHS-97, subject to fulfillment of other relevant conditions.

 

          Railways may therefore act accordingly and permit surviving spouses of deceased retired employees, who intend to join the RELHS-97, till 31.12.2005.

 

          All other terms and conditions contained in Board’s letter No.97/H/28/1 dated 23.10.97 and subsequent orders  No.97/H/28/1 dated 17.5.99 and 27.12.99 and also in the letter under reference will remain unchanged.

 

          The above has the sanction of the President and this issues with the concurrence of Finance Directorate of Ministry of Railways.
