2008/H/5/17 dated 24.01.2011
Circular Subject
Medical fitness of Railway employees with intra-ocular Lens(IOL)-Amendment to Para 512(10) of IRMM-2000.
Ref
Board’s letter of even No. dated 25.03.2009

Arising out of a demand raised by NFIR to remove the upper ceiling date of 31.03.2009 for considering re medical examination of employees of A-one category who had been declared medically unfit in the past due to PCIOL implantation in one or both eyes, the following has been decided.
‘The employees declared unfit in Aye-one (A-1) category due to PC(IOL) implantation (in one or both eyes) be permitted to be re-examined by a special Medical Board on case to case basis and if found fit, may be reinducted into the original category.
The discretion for re-examination of such employees is to be exercised by General Manager/Zonal Railway and it cannot be delegated further.’
This supersedes the instructions contained in Board’s letter of even number dated 25.03.2009.
This has the approval of Board (MS).
