Grant of cash award - normal purchase procedure should be followed for gift articles

In a vigilance investigation relating to distribution of group cash award on a Railway in kind, other than in cash, certain irregularities in the procedure for purchase of gift articles for distribution amongst the Railway officials had been observed. In this regard, it is desired that where award money is to be distributed in kind by way of gift articles involving expenditure, adequate care should be taken to ensure that normal purchase procedure is followed while processing with such purchases.
