Training Modules for Civil Engineering (Permanent Way) Supervisors (SE/ JE / Sr. PWS)

  • Revised Training Modules for Civil Engineering (Permanent Way) Supervisors (SEs, JEs and Sr. PWSs) approved by Railway Board has two parts : Part A- Induction Training and Part B Promotional and Refresher Training.
  • During the period of two months of ‘On the Job Attachment’ , the trainees will get the experience of actual hands on working in the units where they have to be posted eventually.

Training of Railway employees

  • Indian Railways have 291 Training centers to impart training to different categories of railwaymen (See list of training centers of Indian Railways).
  • Every year 1 Lakh employees undergo Refresher courses. If the schedules are strictly adhered, it is estimated that 4 to 4.5 Lakh employees should undergo RC every year. 
  • Each Training Institute has to submit Annual performance report to Manpower Directorate of Railway Board. 

Recruitment of Group A services

  • All first appointments to a Group A Post in Railway  Service shall be made by the President on the recommendation of the Union Public Service Commission from time to time in accordance with the rules framed by him.

Recruitment of Group 'A' Officers are made through:
1. Competitive examination held by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Promotion of officers in Group B.
2. Promotion of Officers from Group 'B' Service.
