Journey on Transfer and Composite Transfer Grant

  • By Air : Officers drawing GP Rs.12000 and those in scale HAG+ and above may travel by air. Admissible for self only.
  • By Rail : Free passes are issued to Railway Employee and family.
  • By Road : If not connected by rail , Railway employee and family can travel by road. Entitlements for journeys by road will be same as admissible for journeys on tour.

Composite Transfer Grant(CTG) on transfer

New Pension Scheme 2004

  • For Railway employees recruited on or after 01.01.2004.
  • This scheme has Tier I and Tier II accounts.
  • Tier I is mandatory for all Railway employees who joined service or after 01.01.2004.
  • Tier I contribution will be 10% of Basic Pay + DA(plus NPA if any).
  • It will be deducted from salary every month. Government will make an equal matching contribution. Both will be rounded off to nearest rupee.
  • Recovery will commence from the month following the month of joining Railway Service.

Family Pension

  • On the death of a Railway employee or Retired Railway employee.
  • For grant of Family pension family is categorised into two.

- Category I

  1. Widow/Widower upto death/remarriage.
  2. Son/Daughter including widowed daughter upto date of his/her marriage/remarriage or till the date he/she starts earning or till 25 years whichever is earlier.

- Category II

Applicability

The following rules regarding pension apply only to those appointed on or before 31.12.2003.

  • Railway Services (Pension) Rules 1993.
  • Railway Services (Pension Commutation) Rules 1993
  • Railway Services (Extraordinary Pension) Rules 1993

Railway Servants who have been appointed or or after 1.1.2004 New Pension Scheme will apply.

Benefits to all staff at Death/Retirement

Medical and Health Care

  • Indian Railways has an extensive network of hospitals and clinics. There are specialized hospitals for cancer(Varanasi), heart diseases(Chennai), orthopaedics(Kolkata) and Plastic surgery(Mumbai).
  • In addition, 150 private hospitals are recognized for treatment.
  • Railway employees are referred to Medical Colleges and specialized treatment centres and expenses are reimbursed.
  • Indian Railways have their own Family Planning and Family Welfare centres to look after health of mothers and children.

Companion in lieu of attendant

  • The facility of a Companion will be provided only on I/I A post-retirement complimentary pass of retired railway servants who are above the age of 65 years if there is already a provision to carry an Attendant as per the Railway Servants (Pass) Rules, 1986.*
  • The facility of a Companion in lieu of attendant will be permitted only when the pass holder and/or eligible members of family above the age of 65 years is travelling along with the Companion in Sleeper class / II class.
